Traditions at Willows
Traditions are important at Willows! Here are just a few of the events that make up the Willows experience:
Homecoming
Homecoming Week is a favorite Willows tradition filled with school spirit, fun, and celebration. The week brings the community together through special activities, Senior Volleyball Night, and a High School Homecoming Dance to cap it all off.
Back-to-School Picnic
A favorite school tradition, our Back-to-School Picnic brings students and families together to kick off the new school year! The celebration includes live music, grilling, a community potluck, rides and games, and plenty of school spirit—including our spiritwear shop. It’s a fun way for our school community to reconnect and start the year together!
Dash Before the Bash
A fun Homecoming Week tradition, Dash Before the Bash is our annual 5K fundraiser that brings students, families, and the community together. With music, fun prizes, and plenty of school spirit, it’s a great way to kick off Homecoming Week!
Field Day
Students kick off the school year with a day full of spirited games to build friendships and come together for an all school BBQ lunch.
Powderpuff Flag Football
A favorite Homecoming Week tradition, Powderpuff Flag Football brings students together for a fun and spirited day of friendly competition. Students hit the field, cheer on their Houses, and show off their school spirit in this annual Homecoming tradition!
Big Sister-Little Sister
Seniors and Freshmen and 8th graders and 6th graders are paired together for a week of secret clues and activities to break the ice and forming new friendships across the grades.
Senior Gala
Graduates are honored at a formal dinner followed by dancing. Seniors wear white dresses and are escorted in to a song of their choice.
Mother Daughter Luncheon
A morning Mass and a formal, festive luncheon for mothers, daughters, and teachers. Seniors and their mothers are honored.
Halloween
Students and faculty dress in their most creative costumes and join in all-school contests, fun, and games.
Penny Wars
Students, teachers, and staff put coins in their house’s jar to earn points and put dollar bills in other jars to subtract from those houses. The house with the most points at the end of the week wins and earns spirit points. All money collected goes to charity.
Canned Food Drive
In the spirit of gratitude and giving back, houses complete to gather canned food and other boxed items to donate to those in need.
Kris Kringle
One of Willows most beloved traditions, all students, faculty and staff exchange names, hang a stocking on their locker, and give a series of small gifts and clues to their Kris Kringle. It all leads up to a big gift, a big reveal, and an all school Christmas party.
8th Grade Gradution
We proudly honor our 8th grade graduates with a formal ceremony as they celebrate the completion of middle school and prepare to move upstairs to high school! This next chapter brings new challenges, exciting experiences, and opportunities for growth as they continue their Willows journey.
Easter Carnival
A fun-filled carnival organized by Willows students for younger siblings, future students, and friends of Willows.
House Systems
Our House placement and system is a cherished school tradition that brings students, faculty, and staff together as one community. Everyone is placed in one of four Houses—Integritas, Excellentia, Gaudium, or Liberalitas- making the tradition a lasting part of our school community
Spirit Week
Students show their school spirit and build friendships with a specific dress theme and activity each day. Spirit week culminates with a class lip sync contest.
